A pome is an accessory fruit composed of five or more carpels (female reproductive organ of a flower) in which the exocarp forms an inconspicuous layer, the mesocarp is usually fleshy, and the endocarp forms a leathery case around the seed. ie. Apple, Juneberry, Loquat, Medlar, Pear, Quince, Pomegranate Stone Fruits or Drupe - a type of fruit in which an outer fleshy part (exocarp or skin and mesocarp or flesh) surrounds a shell (the pit or stone) of hardened endocarp with a seed inside. These fruits develop from a single carpel, and mostly from flowers with superior ovaries. ie. Apricot, Cherry, Plum, Peach, Mango, Lychee, Avocado Bramble fruits - these aggregate fruits develops from a flower with numerous simple pistils. Each small unit is called a druplet because each is like a small drupe attached to the receptacle. ie. Blackberry, Raspberry Exotic Fruits ie.
